Shopify Developer

At Warner Music Group , we’re a global collective of music makers and music lovers, tech innovators and inspired entrepreneurs, game-changing creatives and passionate team members. Here, we turn dreams into stardom and audiences into fans. We are guided by three core values that underpin everything we do across all our diverse businesses:

Curiosity : We do our best work when we’re immersing ourselves in culture and breaking through barriers. Curiosity is the driving force behind creativity and ingenuity. It fuels innovation, and innovation is the key to our future.

Collaboration : Making music and bringing it to the world is all about the power of originality amplified by teamwork. A great idea, like a great song, travels globally. We ignite passions and build connections across our diverse community of artists, songwriters, partners, and fans.

Commitment : We pursue excellence for our team and our talent. Everything in music starts with a leap into the unknown, and we’re committed to keeping the faith, acting with integrity, and delivering on our promises.

Technology is one of the most important parts of our business. Whether it’s signing up new artists; ensuring we provide the right data to Spotify, YouTube, and other digital service providers; or helping artists use the latest AI tools and make thoughtful decisions with data-driven insights – technology plays an invaluable role in our success. The engineering team at Warner Music Group makes all of it a reality. Check out first-hand accounts from the WMG engineering, product, design, infrastructure and data teams in our blog!

WMG is home to a wide range of artists, musicians, and songwriters that fuel our success. That is why we are committed to creating a work environment that actively values, appreciates, and respects everyone. We encourage applications from people with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences.

Consider a career at WMG and get the best of both worlds – an innovative global music company that retains the creative spirit of a nimble independent.

A little bit about our team:

You'll be part of the team behind Warner Music Group 's direct-to-consumer storefronts, the online stores where fans buy from some of the world's best-known artists and labels. It's a chance to do meaningful e-commerce work at scale, alongside experienced developers, and to grow your skills on a platform millions of fans rely on.

Your role:

We're looking for a Junior Shopify Developer to help build and improve our Shopify storefronts. You'll join a mature Shopify environment with an established codebase and release process, working on everything from day-to-day fixes to new theme features.

There's a real learning curve here, and we'll support you with structured onboarding and code review. What matters most is solid Shopify fundamentals, clean code habits, and a genuine drive to learn and take on more over time.

Here you’ll get to:

• Build and customise theme sections, templates and features in Liquid
• Pick up development tickets, from settings and content changes to bug fixes and new functionality, growing into larger features as you ramp up
• Build configurable sections with well-structured theme settings, so merchants can make changes without code
• Write structured, maintainable code: component-based JavaScript, scoped to its section, with clear naming and no one-off workarounds
• Make sure your work is responsive, cross-browser compatible and accessible

Install, configure and troubleshoot Shopify apps

• Work in Git and pull request workflows, including reviewing and responding to code review
• Work closely with QA to test and ship changes safely
• Look for ways to automate repetitive work, using AI tools where they help

About you:

• 3+ years of hands-on Shopify development experience at an agency or a brand running on Shopify
• A portfolio of Shopify work you can show us
• Solid understanding of Shopify themes: sections, templates, theme settings and the Shopify admin
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Liquid, JavaScript and TypeScript, plus familiarity with lightweight client-side frameworks such as Stimulus or Alpine.js
• Understanding of responsive, mobile-first development
• Working knowledge of accessibility best practices and WCAG 2.1 AA

Comfortable with Git and pull requests

• Experience using AI tools in your development workflow
• A habit of structured code development: organised files, reusable components and code that other developers can easily read and extend
• Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ownership of your work

We’d love it if you also had:

Shopify Plus experience

• Shopify CLI, Theme Check or the Shopify Admin API (GraphQL)
• CI/CD experience, for example GitHub Actions

Front-end build tooling, such as Vite or webpack

Performance optimisation, for example Lighthouse and Core Web Vitals
