We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead design for Stord 's brand-facing and consumer-facing subscription portals, physical inserts product (Unbox), and international checkout, and other experiences that turn one-time buyers into loyal customers. You'll own design quality across this domain, shape the roadmap through design with stakeholders, and help raise the craft of a growing design team.
You'll create experiences for consumers at their most critical moments: tracking an order, managing a subscription, or resolving a delivery issue. This isn't about building forms. It's about designing experiences that reduce anxiety, build trust, and create loyalty during moments that can make or break a brand relationship. What makes this role special:
Consumer delight at scale: Your designs touch millions of end consumers across hundreds of leading brands
Domain ownership: You own design across consumer commerce and set direction proactively, rather than waiting for a brief
Strategic influence: Your research and design point of view shape roadmap conversations with product and engineering leaders
Direct business impact: Drive conversion rates, return completion rates, and customer satisfaction scores
Vision storytelling: Get engineering teams excited about the why behind your designs and help them see the consumer's emotional journey
AI-powered velocity: Leverage AI design tools to rapidly prototype and iterate on consumer experiences
Team leverage: Help shape the practices of a growing 5-person design team
The opportunity: Own the design vision for consumer-facing commerce experiences while helping establish design excellence across Stord 's platform. If you're energized by consumer psychology, comfortable with ambiguity, and love helping engineers understand the emotional stakes of post-purchase experiences, this role will challenge and fulfill you.
What You'll Do
Own design for multiple teams:
Lead end-to-end design for subscriptions portals, international checkout, and other post-purchase touchpoints, including ambiguous and multi-surface problems
Own design quality across multiple teams, working on multiple features at once with minimal direction
Create responsive experiences that work beautifully across mobile, tablet, and desktop
Design experiences that adapt to different brand aesthetics while maintaining usability and accessibility
Optimize for conversion, completion rates, and customer satisfaction at every touchpoint
Champion the Consumer and Shape Direction:
Identify problems worth solving before they land on your desk, and propose solutions backed by evidence
Drive mixed-methods research: generative research to understand consumer behavior, anxieties, and expectations, evaluative testing to validate solutions, and analytics to find friction at scale
Translate consumer insights into compelling design narratives that get engineering teams emotionally invested
Present design rationale that connects user emotions to business metrics (CSAT, NPS, repeat purchase rates)
Use your work to influence roadmap conversations and cross-functional decisions, and advocate for users with evidence when tradeoffs arise
Drive Rapid Design Iteration:
Leverage AI design tools for quick prototyping and design exploration to accelerate velocity
Create high-fidelity prototypes that validate concepts before engineering investment
Iterate based on usability testing, A/B test results, and consumer feedback
Balance design perfection with shipping velocity and deliver great experiences quickly
Collaborate Across Functions:
Partner with product managers to shape roadmaps based on consumer insights, and work closely with engineers to ensure designs are technically feasible while pushing for exceptional UX
Shape and steward significant portions of the design system, keeping consumer touchpoints consistent and scalable
Champion accessibility and inclusive design practices across the domain
Raise the Bar for the Design Team:
Raise the quality of design critiques with thoughtful, actionable feedback
Introduce or improve design practices and standards that benefit the broader team
Measure and Improve:
Define success metrics for your designs tied to conversion, completion rates, and satisfaction scores
Analyze behavior data to identify friction points and optimization opportunities
Continuously refine experiences based on performance data and user feedback
What You'll Need
Design Experience and Expertise:
7+ years of product design experience, including at least 3 years designing consumer-facing digital products
Deep craft in UX and UI across the full design lifecycle, with a portfolio that shows how you led complex problems from ambiguity to shipped outcomes
B2C design fluency: a deep understanding of consumer psychology, behavior patterns, and expectations
Multi-platform design: experience creating responsive experiences across mobile, tablet, and desktop
Mixed-methods research: proven ability to run generative and evaluative research, combine it with analytics, and turn insights into design and product direction
Design systems: experience shaping and stewarding significant portions of a design system, not only using one
Accessibility: working knowledge of WCAG and a track record of championing inclusive design
Modern design tools: advanced proficiency in Figma, including prototyping and component libraries, literacy in AI tools as part of your process, and appetite to learn new tools such as Claude and Claude Design
Scope and Leadership:
Experience owning design quality across a product domain or multiple features at once, with minimal direction
A record of influencing product direction and roadmap decisions through design, not only executing briefs
Experience mentoring other designers through feedback and pairing, and raising the bar in critiques
Comfort advocating for users with evidence in cross-functional discussions, including pushing back on scope or direction when user needs aren't being served
The Skills That Set You Apart
Storytelling ability: You can paint a picture of the consumer's emotional journey that gets engineering teams invested
Technical collaboration: You speak engineering's language and understand technical constraints without compromising UX
Commerce savvy: You understand (or quickly learn) e-commerce flows, order management, and post-purchase journeys
High-fidelity execution: Your designs are polished, detailed, and ready for engineering handoff
Strategic voice: Product managers and senior stakeholders see you as a go-to partner for complex design challenges
AI tool enthusiasm: You're excited to adopt AI-powered design tools to accelerate your workflow
The Mindset We're Looking For
Ownership and initiative: You find problems before you're asked and propose solutions
Comfort with ambiguity: You engage with under-defined problems and produce a clear design direction
High energy and vision: You bring contagious enthusiasm for creating consumer experiences that brands love
Bias for action: You move fast, iterate quickly, and don't get stuck in analysis paralysis
Empathy-driven: You care deeply about the frustrated customer waiting for their package
Collaborative spirit: You thrive in team environments and make everyone around you better
Data-informed: You balance qualitative insights with quantitative metrics to drive decisions
What Gets Us Really Excited
You've designed for e-commerce, returns, order tracking, or post-purchase experiences
You have experience designing white-label or multi-tenant applications that adapt to brand guidelines
You've worked in fast-paced startup or scale-up environments with rapid iteration cycles
You have a portfolio showing measurable improvements in conversion, completion, or satisfaction metrics
You've successfully influenced engineering and product teams to care deeply about consumer experience
You've introduced or improved a design practice, process, or standard that benefited a broader team
