About Jona
Jona is an AI-powered gut microbiome company on a mission to reveal the relationship between the microbiome and health. We combine deep shotgun metagenomic sequencing with proprietary AI to turn complex microbiome data and scientific literature into personalized, actionable insights for individuals and healthcare providers.
Our platform helps users and clinicians connect symptoms, diet, supplements, and lifestyle changes to gut health in a way that is evidence-based, transparent, and practical. Jona is a late-seed, founder-led health-tech company with a small, senior, cross-functional team spanning product, engineering, AI, clinical, scientific, commercial, and design. We are remote-first, low-bureaucracy, and moving quickly as we scale our practitioner, consumer, and strategic-partner channels.
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on VP of Sales to build and lead Jona ’s next phase of commercial growth. This leader will own sales strategy and execution across healthcare practices, provider groups, strategic accounts, and channel opportunities, while creating the systems, talent, and operating cadence required for predictable revenue growth. The position will own the company's revenue target.
This is a player-coach role for an operator who is equally comfortable in a customer meeting, negotiating an agreement, coaching a colleague, and reviewing pipeline data. You will work closely with Jona ’s Founder and CEO and leaders across marketing, clinical, science, product, customer success, and operations. In an early-stage environment, you will be expected to make sound decisions with imperfect information, stay close to the details, and personally help close the company’s most important opportunities.
What You’ll Do
Own revenue strategy and execution: Develop and run a focused sales plan across priority segments, geographies, and channels, with clear goals, resource allocation, and accountability.
Lead from the front: Personally source, advance, negotiate, close and activate high-value, multi-stakeholder opportunities while modeling excellent discovery, demo, follow-up, and deal management.
Scale Jona ’s practitioner channel: Grow adoption and test utilization among concierge medicine, functional medicine, longevity, GI, wellness, and other cash-pay healthcare practices.
Win strategic accounts and partnerships: Build relationships with senior clinical, operational, and commercial decision-makers at provider networks, health-tech companies, labs, and distribution partners.
Build and coach the team: Level up the effectiveness of the current organization. Mentor and coach the sales team.
Sharpen positioning and sales enablement: Partner with marketing, clinical, science, and product teams to translate Jona ’s differentiated technology and evidence into credible, effective messaging, demos, case studies, and objection handling.
Own commercial insight: Turn customer and market feedback into clear recommendations for pricing, packaging, product priorities, implementation, and the broader commercial roadmap.
Partner through implementation and expansion: Work closely with customer success and operations to ensure smooth onboarding, strong utilization, renewals, and account growth.
Represent Jona externally: Build trust with customers, partners, industry leaders, and the broader market through conferences, events, and executive-level conversations.
What Success Looks Like
A clear, segmented go-to-market plan focused on the highest-value customers and channels.
A healthy, measurable pipeline with reliable forecasting and stronger conversion at each stage.
Visible progress and closed revenue across priority practices, strategic accounts, and channel partners.
A high-performing sales team with clear roles, goals, coaching, and operating cadence.
A tighter feedback loop between the market and Jona ’s product, clinical and marketing teams.
What You Bring
