About Fiveonefour
We believe that data is the key to unleashing human potential. We've seen firsthand how data helps bridge art and science to create delightful experiences, impactful insights, and seamless automation. We're an early-stage, venture-backed company on a mission to get data out of specialized silos and adopted across all facets of a company. We're building a new kind of data platform that enables all developers, not just data specialists, to easily create and scale delightful data-intensive experiences.
We’re experienced founders with a track record of success. We have a remote-first team, are backed by incredible investors, and are building a high-performance culture that’s flexible and works well for working parents.
A note about our job descriptions. We’ve written many JDs in our careers and wanted to try something new. We believe that everyone on the team deserves to have a great relationship with their manager. Our hiring managers write their job posts, choose their words intentionally, and use this as an opportunity to open up a dialogue.
The role
You will join the existing engineering team and split your time between two products: the open-source framework Moose and its hosting platform Boréal. As this is still very early in the company's life and the framework, you will have opportunities to stretch all across the stack, Whether on the Front End of the hosting platform, the backend, or the open-source framework itself.
What to expect from me
I am both a player and a coach for the team of engineers. I roll up my sleeves and care a lot about my craft. I am pragmatic, I spend my innovation chips deliberately and will encourage you to do the same. I love learning, and I am always eager to read about the latest trends and best practices. I firmly believe that engineering is a team sport; the best technical architectures and designs come out of tight collaborations between team members. I will challenge your designs, encourage you to hone your craft, expect you to ship code to production often, and eventually expect you to coach more junior engineers as the team grows.
What to expect from your peers
As a senior engineer on the team, you will collaborate closely with the product, design, and the rest of the engineering team to get Moose and Boréal to the next stage of maturity of their lifecycle. This team of ambitious and pragmatic people cares about each other’s happiness. We all love the grind and the thrill of the early stages of a company. We come from different parts of the world and appreciate what our cultures and experiences bring to the table. Many of us are parents and hence build in flexibility to be there for our families. You can choose to leverage that flexibility in whichever ways work for you.
