China Market Intelligence & Commercial Lead (he/she/they)

This is a remote position.

About us

Since 2000, EUPD Group has established itself as a trusted, independent voice in the renewable energy industry. Our work centers on primary data-driven market research, quality certification, and strategic consulting in the areas of photovoltaics, energy storage, and the energy transition. Internationally positioned, we support organizations - from ambitious start-ups to global corporations - in navigating change with clarity, backed by more than 25 years of market experience.

As China's dual-carbon agenda reshapes the domestic industry and Chinese renewable energy companies go global at speed, we are establishing our own presence here - not a nameplate office, but a local team with a real mandate, built together with the colleague who joins us now.

About the Role

We are looking for a China Market Intelligence & Commercial Lead to drive business development in China, build senior industry relationships, and provide the European headquarters with a clear understanding of the Chinese market.

This is not a traditional sales role. We are looking for someone who combines industry knowledge, commercial capability, strong relationships and market intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

Drive the commercial development and sales of our market intelligence, research and consulting solutions in China.

Develop and maintain relationships with leading companies and senior decision-makers across the PV and energy storage value chain, including modules, batteries, inverters, PCS and ESS.

• Monitor Chinese market developments, customer needs, competitive dynamics and emerging trends to identify new business opportunities.
• Translate customer and market insights into recommendations for new research products, consulting solutions and commercial opportunities.
• Represent the company at major solar PV, energy storage and renewable energy conferences and industry events in China and internationally.
• Work closely with the European headquarters and global team, connecting Chinese market insights with international market developments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in solar PV, energy storage, renewable energy, market intelligence, consulting, strategy or a related industry.
• Strong understanding of the Chinese PV and energy storage value chain and key market players.
• Established relationships and network within the Chinese renewable energy industry; access to senior decision-makers is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in B2B business development, consulting, research or data-driven solution sales.
• Strong commercial mindset, analytical ability and communication skills.
• Active, hands-on use of AI and automation tools in daily work, paired with a genuine interest in continuously improving and streamlining processes.
• Fluent Mandarin and excellent professional English.
• Comfortable working in an international, English-speaking environment.
• Willingness to travel frequently within China and internationally.
• Experience in industry conferences, panels, speaking engagements or media is a strong plus.

What we offer

Exciting, data-driven projects in the renewable energy, storage, and solar sector - with direct relevance to fast-moving markets and to the overseas strategies of leading Chinese manufacturers.

• Access to our primary research on European and global installers, channels, and end customers - insight most of the market never sees.
• A direct line to our German headquarters: flat structures, no reporting layers, and real influence on how we build up China.
• High degree of autonomy and freedom in organizing your own work and schedule - we assess outcomes, not attendance.
• Fair, project- and outcome-based fee structure, with clear terms agreed in advance.
• Potential for further projects/engagements based on successful collaboration, and a hand in growing the China business itself.
• Professional exchange on current developments in solar, storage, and renewables with analysts who track these markets year-round.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who can: Understand the industry / Understand the customer / Leverage the network / Identify opportunities / Develop business / Shape products.

The successful candidate will serve as an important bridge between China, our European headquarters and the global renewable energy industry.
