POSITION SUMMARY
Empower Pharmacy is seeking a Director, Telehealth Sales & Strategic Partnerships to lead new business development across the rapidly expanding telehealth and digital-health market.
This is a senior individual-contributor and revenue-producing role for an experienced healthcare business-development professional who can independently identify opportunities, penetrate strategic accounts, build executive relationships, develop complex solutions, negotiate agreements, and close significant new business.
The Director will pursue opportunities across the entire telehealth ecosystem, including growth-stage and upper mid-market telehealth and integrative-health organizations, large national and enterprise telehealth platforms, digital-health companies and virtual-care organizations, telehealth infrastructure and enablement companies, MSOs, provider networks, technology-enabled healthcare organizations, healthcare marketplaces, aggregators, and strategic channel partners.
The successful candidate will be equally comfortable pursuing a fast-growing founder-led healthcare company and navigating a sophisticated enterprise opportunity involving multiple executives, technology integrations, operations, finance, legal, and clinical stakeholders.
This position owns the commercial process from target identification through contract execution and expansion , with responsibility for building a significant and durable telehealth revenue pipeline for Empower.
RESPONSIBILITIES
New Business Development & Market Penetration
Proactively identify, target, and develop high-value telehealth and digital-health opportunities nationwide.
Build a disciplined account strategy across multiple segments of the telehealth ecosystem rather than relying on a limited number of large enterprise opportunities.
Personally generate new opportunities through strategic outbound prospecting, industry relationships, referrals, conferences, executive networking, market intelligence, and partnership development.
Map target organizations to identify decision-makers, influencers, clinical stakeholders, pharmacy relationships, technology requirements, and potential barriers to conversion.
Develop creative entry strategies for highly competitive or difficult-to-penetrate accounts.
Maintain a strong understanding of emerging telehealth business models, competitors, prescribing trends, pharmacy relationships, and market opportunities.
Full-Cycle Strategic Sales
Own opportunities from initial identification and discovery through solution development, commercial negotiation, contract execution, and launch.
Conduct executive-level discovery to understand each organization’s clinical model, patient journey, prescription volume, technology environment, fulfillment requirements, service expectations, and strategic objectives.
Translate Empower’s capabilities into customized commercial solutions aligned with the needs of each prospective partner.
Develop compelling business cases demonstrating the clinical, operational, financial, technological, and strategic value of partnering with Empower.
Lead sophisticated negotiations involving pricing, product strategy, service levels, operational requirements, technology integration, and long-term partnership structure.
Maintain urgency and momentum across complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles.
Enterprise & Strategic Account Development
Develop and execute pursuit strategies for large enterprise telehealth organizations with complex organizational structures and extended sales cycles.
Build relationships with C-suite executives, founders, clinical leaders, operations executives, pharmacy leaders, technology teams, finance leaders, and other key stakeholders.
Navigate procurement, legal, compliance, technology, operations, and executive approval processes necessary to bring complex partnerships to completion.
Coordinate internal executive sponsorship when appropriate to advance strategic opportunities.
Position Empower as a long-term strategic pharmacy and healthcare partner, not simply a transactional fulfillment vendor.
Channel & Infrastructure Partnerships
Identify organizations that influence, enable, aggregate, or support telehealth prescribing and patient care.
Develop relationships with telehealth infrastructure companies, provider networks, MSOs, marketplaces, healthcare technology platforms, and other organizations capable of creating scalable access to multiple healthcare customers.
Evaluate opportunities where a single strategic partnership can create access to multiple clinics, prescribers, platforms, or patient populations.
Develop commercial models that make Empower easier to integrate into the broader telehealth ecosystem.
Product & Portfolio Growth
Understand Empower’s broad compounded medication and pharmacy capabilities and effectively match them to each partner’s clinical and commercial model.
Expand conversations beyond any single therapeutic category by identifying opportunities across the broader Empower portfolio.
Work collaboratively with internal clinical, product, operations, regulatory, technology, and commercial teams to identify solutions for emerging customer needs.
Identify product, formulation, service, technology, or operational gaps discovered through customer conversations and communicate market intelligence back to Empower leadership.
Help customers identify opportunities to expand their clinical offerings where Empower’s capabilities can create additional value.
Land, Expand & Grow
Remain commercially engaged following launch to ensure partnerships achieve their anticipated potential.
Identify opportunities to increase prescription volume, add therapeutic categories, expand patient populations, introduce additional Empower capabilities, or broaden the relationship across business units.
Partner closely with Account Management and operational teams to ensure successful implementation and long-term customer growth.
Build executive relationships that help Empower become an increasingly strategic component of the customer’s business.
Pipeline, Forecasting & Commercial Discipline
Build and maintain a substantial pipeline of qualified telehealth opportunities across multiple market segments and stages of development.
Maintain disciplined CRM documentation including opportunity stage, stakeholders, next steps, competitive dynamics, risks, expected revenue, probability, and anticipated close date.
Provide accurate forecasting and clearly communicate opportunities, challenges, and required executive support.
Use CRM, data analytics, market intelligence, and AI-enabled tools to improve prospecting, account planning, forecasting, and sales productivity.
Maintain accountability for agreed-upon revenue, pipeline, and new-business objectives.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Serve as the commercial quarterback for major telehealth opportunities.
Coordinate effectively with Operations, Technology, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, Clinical, Product, Marketing, Account Management, and executive leadership.
Translate customer requirements into clearly defined internal action plans.
Ensure prospective partners receive a coordinated, professional, and differentiated experience throughout the sales process.
Balance customer needs with Empower’s operational, financial, regulatory, and strategic requirements.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Exceptional new-business development and strategic selling capability.
Demonstrated ability to prospect independently and create opportunities rather than relying primarily on inbound leads.
Strong understanding of telehealth, digital health, healthcare technology, pharmacy, or other healthcare-service business models.
Ability to sell to both entrepreneurial growth companies and sophisticated enterprise organizations.
Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively with founders and C-suite decision-makers.
Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizations and multi-stakeholder buying processes.
Ability to understand operational and technology workflows and translate them into commercially viable solutions.
Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple strategic opportunities simultaneously.
Strong CRM, forecasting, analytical, and account-planning discipline.
Naturally curious about healthcare markets, competitors, emerging business models, and customer strategy.
Resourceful, persistent, competitive, and comfortable operating with significant independence.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, highly regulated healthcare environment.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
7+ years of progressively responsible sales, business development, strategic partnerships, or commercial experience within telehealth, digital health, healthcare technology, pharmacy, healthcare services, or a closely related industry.
Demonstrated history of personally generating and closing meaningful new business.
Experience managing complex strategic or enterprise opportunities involving multiple stakeholders and extended sales cycles.
Existing relationships within telehealth, digital health, pharmacy, healthcare technology, or related healthcare markets strongly preferred.
Experience working with rapidly growing, entrepreneurial healthcare organizations is highly valued.
Experience selling pharmacy services, healthcare technology, fulfillment solutions, clinical services, or other operationally complex healthcare solutions is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience and demonstrated commercial performance will be considered.
