The Role
Every gift to Crisis Text Line helps someone in crisis get support when they need it most. As our Major Gifts Officer, you’ll build the relationships behind that support.
This is a chance to build a major gifts program while it’s still taking shape. You’ll manage your own portfolio of donors and prospects, work side by side with our board and senior leaders, and have real say in how we find, engage, and thank the people who make our work possible.
You’ll thrive here if you love building trust with people, take initiative, and like figuring out the path as you go. You’ll join a newer team that is building together, and this role will report to the VP of Philanthropy.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospective donors, with individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans
Build and maintain authentic relationships with high-net-worth individuals, board members, community leaders, and other key stakeholders
Partner with board members and organizational leadership to identify prospects, strengthen relationships, and create opportunities for engagement
Find new prospects through research, relationship mapping, referrals, board connections, and following up on cold and warm leads
Lead donor meetings and conversations, and conduct regular outreach including calls, events, and personalized communications
Prepare donor briefings, proposals, meeting materials, and other cultivation and solicitation materials
Track donor activity, next steps, and relationship history in the CRM, and keep stewardship consistent and thoughtful
Lead and mentor team members, helping them grow their skills and their donor relationships
Collaborate across Development, Marketing and Communications, and other teams to support donor events, share our impact and funding priorities, and keep donor work connected to the rest of the organization
Help build a sustainable major gifts program by setting up processes and strategy as it grows, and take initiative in an evolving environment
