Who we are
At Aquila, we invest in category-defining B2B/B2G software companies globally, acting as a thought-partner, striving for the success of our companies in the long term. We are a well-managed, profitable company that operates like a startup with the financial backing of a parent company. For our people, this means limitless possibilities.
We are unapologetically unique, pivoting to respond to the needs of the multiple markets we operate in. We have ambitious goals, and we are looking for genuine contributors with integrity, energy, flexibility, and loyalty. We are investing in building future leaders who can take an idea and make things happen.
Who we need
At SymPro, an Aquila company and part of Constellation Software, we provide treasury management software that supports investment, debt, and cash management operations for public sector organizations across North America. With more than 400 customers, we help government agencies and public institutions improve financial accuracy, reporting, and operational efficiency in complex treasury environments. Backed by the stability of Constellation Software and the long-term ownership model of Aquila, SymPro combines the strength of an established business with the agility of a focused, product-led software company.
Reporting to the Sales and Marketing Manager, we are hiring a Business Development Representative to help expand our presence in the public sector market across North America. As our new Business Development Representative, you will connect with finance and treasury decision-makers at government agencies and public institutions, introducing our investment, debt, and cash management software solutions and creating opportunities for our sales team. Through targeted outbound prospecting, research, and personalized outreach, you will build relationships with prospective customers, identify opportunities to introduce additional solutions to existing organizations, and book meetings that move sales conversations forward.
This is a full-time, remote role based in the United States or Canada.
What’s in it for you
A proven product with a compelling story to take to market. We have built a strong reputation and established presence in the public sector treasury management market. You will have the opportunity to introduce our broader suite of investment, debt, and cash management solutions to organizations that may already know and trust us, while opening doors with new customers. You will build your sales skills around technology that addresses real financial challenges, supported by the credibility of an established business and the opportunity to help expand our market reach.
Learn from experienced sales professionals. You will have the opportunity to learn from an experienced business development colleague and gain exposure to the broader sales process, including sales conversations and product demonstrations. You will develop an understanding of how initial outreach turns into meaningful customer relationships while building the confidence, communication skills, and commercial knowledge to take on greater responsibility.
Build a career with room to grow. Whether you are looking to break into technology sales or build on your existing experience, you will join us as we strengthen our sales and marketing capabilities. As your skills and interests evolve, you may have opportunities to move into inside sales, account management, customer success, or other commercial roles across SymPro and the broader Aquila organization. You will have the chance to explore different paths and discover where your strengths can take you.
As our new Business Development Representative, you will
Create targeted sales opportunities. You will research public sector organizations and identify finance, treasury, investment, accounting, and operational contacts who may benefit from SymPro’s solutions. Using CRM data, online research, sales tools, and thoughtful prospecting, you will build targeted outreach lists and focus your efforts on the accounts and contacts most likely to generate meaningful conversations.
Open conversations that lead to meetings. You will reach out to prospective customers and existing contacts through phone, email, LinkedIn, and other channels. You will tailor your message to the audience, communicate professionally, navigate gatekeepers, handle objections, and maintain momentum through follow-up with the goal of booking qualified meetings and demos for the sales team.
Support a healthy early-stage funnel. Y ou will help increase activity, demos, and early-stage pipeline by qualifying inbound interest, following up on marketing and event leads, and handing off opportunities with clear context. Because SymPro works in a defined market, you will balance quality and volume, ensuring meetings are with the right contacts in the right organizations.
Strengthen outreach through market insight. You will learn SymPro’s product suite, including investment, debt, and cash management solutions, as well as the broader public sector treasury management landscape. You will use that knowledge to understand customer challenges, refine messaging, and share prospect feedback with Sales and Marketing to improve target lists, outreach cadences, and early-stage opportunity quality.
Use tools and technology to work smarter. You will maintain accurate records of activity, contacts, follow-up, and meeting outcomes in the CRM. You will use research tools, AI-enabled tools, and available sales technology to improve account research, personalize outreach, and work efficiently while applying judgment before anything reaches a prospect.
You bring
The sales drive. You are goal-focused, persistent, and motivated by the opportunity to create conversations from the ground up. You can handle unanswered calls, rejection, and objections without losing momentum, and you understand that consistent, thoughtful outreach is part of building a strong sales career.
The prospecting mindset. You can identify, research, and qualify potential customers using account information, online research, CRM data, and sales tools. You are curious about organizations, buyers, competitors, and customer challenges, and you know that effective outreach starts with understanding who you are contacting and why it matters.
The communication and professionalism. You can speak and write clearly, tailor your message to the audience, and represent SymPro with credibility from the first interaction. You are comfortable contacting finance and treasury stakeholders, asking thoughtful questions, handling objections, and creating enough trust and interest to move a conversation forward.
The follow-through. You take ownership of your work, manage follow-up carefully, and keep accurate records. You understand that booking a meeting is only part of the job. The details, notes, timing, and handoff all contribute to the customer experience and the sales team’s success.
The learning agility. You are interested in learning SymPro’s products, the public sector market, and the treasury management space, including investment, debt, and cash management workflows. Previous experience in technology, SaaS, sales development, business development, customer service, banking, financial services, public sector, or another customer-facing environment is an asset.
The technology mindset. You are comfortable learning CRM systems, sales tools, and AI-enabled research or outreach tools. You can use technology to improve your work while applying good judgment, reviewing content carefully, and making sure outreach feels human, relevant, and professional.
